Privacy policy

Effective date:

CrossAI 1.0 keeps your folders on your device and sends nothing to us. This page says what it stores, what it reads and why.

Who we are

CrossAI is a browser extension for Google Chrome. It is operated by Tashi, 157 Jameson Ave,Toronto ("we").

You can reach us at tashi@kharagedition.com.

What this policy covers

This policy covers CrossAI 1.0 and this page. CrossAI 1.0 does one thing: it adds a Folders section to ChatGPT's sidebar so that you can organize your own chats. It has no account, no sync, no payments and no AI features.

Later releases will add accounts and sync across devices. A fuller policy will replace this one when they ship, and it will be published on this page before those features reach you.

What CrossAI stores, and where

Everything CrossAI stores stays on your device, in a local database that Chrome keeps for the extension inside your browser profile. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

  • Your folders: their names, colors, order and nesting, your pins, and which chats you filed in which folder.
  • A copy of your ChatGPT chat list, so that folders can show chats by name. For each chat that is its id, its title, when it was created and last updated, and whether it is archived. If you use a ChatGPT workspace, the id of that workspace is kept with the list.
  • A few settings, such as whether you have seen the introduction and when the chat list was last refreshed.

This data stays until you remove it. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored. This version has no sync, so nothing is copied to another device.

What CrossAI reads from ChatGPT, and why

CrossAI works only on chatgpt.com, with the account you are signed in to there.

  • Your chat list. CrossAI asks chatgpt.com for the list of your chats, with the details named above, so that it can show them inside your folders and keep their titles current.
  • Your ChatGPT session. To ask for that list, CrossAI uses the session you are already signed in with, including the access token that ChatGPT gives your browser. The token goes only to chatgpt.com. It is held in memory while the tab is open and is never stored. ChatGPT's answer also contains your account id and email address. CrossAI does not use, store or send them.
  • The ChatGPT page. CrossAI looks at the page to find the sidebar, the chat rows and the Share button, and to see which chat is open and whether the page is light or dark. That is how it places the Folders section and its icon, and matches the look of ChatGPT. If you use a ChatGPT workspace, it also reads which one is selected, so that the chats of different workspaces are kept apart.
  • The tab you open the CrossAI popup on. When you open the popup, it checks whether that tab is a ChatGPT page, so that it can tell you why folders are not showing there, or offer to reload the tab. Chrome tells CrossAI a tab's address only when it is a chatgpt.com page; about any other tab CrossAI learns nothing. Nothing about your tabs is stored or sent.
  • The address and method of ChatGPT's own requests when you rename, archive, delete or send a chat. That tells CrossAI that a chat changed, so that folders stay in step. CrossAI does not block or change these requests and does not read what is in them.

CrossAI does not read the content of your chats: not your messages, not ChatGPT's replies, not your files.

What CrossAI never collects

We receive nothing from the extension. It has no server of ours to talk to: the only site it contacts is chatgpt.com, the one you are already using.

CrossAI does not collect, store or send:

  • the content of your chats
  • your ChatGPT password or payment details
  • your browsing history, or anything from a site other than chatgpt.com
  • analytics, usage statistics or crash reports
  • advertising or device identifiers
  • your location

There are no ads and no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared.

Permissions and why CrossAI needs them

CrossAI 1.0 asks Chrome for these four permissions and nothing else.

https://chatgpt.com/* (site access)
Shows the Folders section inside ChatGPT's sidebar and reads your own chat list from ChatGPT, so that chats can be shown inside folders. CrossAI has access to no other site.
webRequest
Observes the address and method of your own ChatGPT requests when you rename, archive, delete or send a chat, so that folder contents stay in step with ChatGPT. Requests are never blocked, changed or read.
offscreen
Runs the local database in a background worker, so that your folders stay available when Chrome pauses the extension.
unlimitedStorage
Keeps your folders in local storage that Chrome does not clear when disk space runs low.

No third parties

CrossAI shares nothing with third parties. It contacts chatgpt.com only, to read your own chat list, and passes nothing on: not to us, not to analytics or advertising services, not to anyone else. We do not sell personal information, and the extension gives us none.

No remote code

CrossAI runs only the code inside the package you install from the Chrome Web Store. It does not download or run code from anywhere else.

This page

This page has no cookies, no analytics, no scripts and no forms. It is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub receives the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for, in order to deliver the page and keep the service safe. We do not use those details to identify you.

Children

CrossAI is not directed at children, and ChatGPT sets its own minimum age. Because the extension sends us nothing, we hold no information about children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be on this page with a new effective date. When accounts and sync ship in a later release, a fuller policy will replace this one before those features reach you.
